Hello, I’m Alicia.
Change is scary and challenging. The laws of inertia tell us that nothing will change without an external force. I am an empathetic, calming, and listening external force. I help clients work through complex problems to reach positive outcomes.
My Background
I’ve wanted to help people for as long as I can remember. I earned my MSW from NYU and BSW from Marist College. I also trained at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center (PPSC) to further my knowledge, skills, and craft of therapy. I call it a craft, not an art, because we roll up our sleeves and get to work.
With over 25 years of experience as a therapist, I’m trained in psychoanalytic theories (object relations, relational and modern psychoanalysis) and interventions, as well as CBT and motivational interviewing.
My Approach
With an extensive toolbox, I tailor my approach to every individual’s needs. Every individual is different, and so is my approach to each client. I understand how hard reaching out can be. It can a daunting task to find the correct match in a therapist. I’m here to help. As a licensed clinical social worker, I’m trained to see the person in their environment as well as interpersonally. Let’s talk to see if we’re a good fit.

A personalized approach to treatment.
Be where the client is metaphorically. Be present.
That is the simple part. The more complex part is to "unpack the baggage" so to speak. What in the past is driving the present.
Is there any repetitions or patterns? Any past trauma impacting today's day to day? These are the questions I would be asking myself as we together, roll up our sleeves and dive into the muck. Sometimes you have to wade through the muck to get to the other side.
My approach is like two people in the canoe. I am here to help steer the boat from the back while you paddle in the front. We are on the journey together.
